According to the provisional figures trickling out from the Census 2011, for the first time in the last decade, females have outnumbered males in Goa which has recorded a 8.17 per cent growth in overall population.
Since 2001, population of the state has been increased by 1.10 lakh to 14. 5 lakh, of which 53,463 are males and 56,592 females.
The enumeration data also revealed that the overall literacy rate stood at 87.40 per cent and the same is 92.81 percent among males and 81.84 percent in females.
Seven people maintained that they belonged to neither of the category of male or female.
