Mr A. Subbiah, Chairman, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Trust, Tuticorin, has been selected by the Ministry of Shipping for the Annual Maritime Award 2010-11, in the port sector among the experts from the Indian port industry.
He has been selected for the research paper titled “Web enabled Port Land Management Systems (We PLMS): A technological solution for effective land resources management in a commercial port”.
The award carries a prize of Rs 15,000 along with Maritime Award Certificate. The Ministry of Shipping, during December 2010, had invited research papers from Indian citizens preferably on individual basis on field level problems in the maritime sector. The topic chosen must be original and should not have been published anywhere.
The research paper on any one of the themes on the port sector, the shipping and inland water transport sector and general studies would be selected for the award to be chosen by experts nominated by the Ministry, the release said.
