The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), which is implementing Metro Line-II, said the Central Railway has assured it of all efforts to expedite ‘in principle' approval for the crossing at Kurla and Mankhurd.

Mr Dilip Kawathkar, Joint Project Director, MMRDA, said, “The construction works of the bridges at Kurla and Mankhurd are very essential components of the project.

“We are very happy to receive the kind support of the Central Railway. Officials from both the organisations are in the process of finalising the technical aspects.

“The Charkop-Bandra-Mankhurd Metro line is crucial for efficient mass rapid transit as the pressure for providing linkages in the suburban areas of the Western, Central and Harbour lines is increasing.”

The Charkop-Bandra-Mankhurd corridor of Mumbai Metro begins from Charkop and stretches towards Mankhurd via Bandra and Kurla.

The proposed metro alignment is along major arterial roads of city road networks.
