Five companies, including two from Germany having presence in India, have qualified for price bid opening stage to supply ‘tamper Proof’ High Security Registration plates to be used in all vehicles in Tamil Nadu.

German companies Shimnit Utsch and EHA Hoffmann GmbH through their India operations; Agros Impex and RPP-Infra Projects – both of New Delhi - and Consortium of CELEX Technologies of Chennai have qualified for the project. The Union Transport and Highways Ministry initiated this all India project in 2001.

The project is to ensure uniformity in size, colour and specifications of the plates all over India, to all types of vehicles being registered/already registered. The plates will bear letters “IND” in blue colour on the extreme left centre.
