The loss of business need not necessarily be a cause for concern. It has been nearly two years now since Container Corporation of India, despite having a terminal at Jamshedpur, stopped handling finished steel items produced by Tata Steel for the southern market. “Servicing Tata Steel was a tremendous job and we could not concentrate on other customers in the area,” said an official at Concor.
“Now that Tata Steel is no longer our customer, we're able to serve others, including several Tata Group of companies in the region, better and the result is visible. “In 2010-11, Concor's handling at its Jamshedpur terminal posted more than 50 per cent growth at 3,985 TEUs as against 2,610 TEUs in 2009-10.
