The government today approved expansion and upgradation of infrastructure at Chennai, Guwahati and Lucknow airports at a total cost of ₹5,082 crore. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has cleared expansion and upgradation of integrated terminal at Chennai airport which is estimated to cost ₹2,467 crore.
The expansion and upgradation of integrated terminals at Guwahati and Lucknow airports would cost ₹1,383 crore and ₹1,232 crore, respectively, according to an official release.
At Chennai airport, “the total built-up area of the proposed terminal building, including the present proposal measuring 1,97,000 sq m shall be 3,36,000 sq m with an annual capacity to handle 35 mppa (million passengers per annum),” it said.
