Visakhapatnam Port Trust Chairman MT Krishna Babu inaugurated on Monday domestic cargo shipment from coastal cargo berth, called green channel berth, under the Sagarmala project at a cost of ₹45.30 crore.
The ship, mv All Cargo Sushila, was the first to sail out from the coastal cargo berth with building materials. Of the total cost on developing the berth, the Centre funded ₹30 crore under Sagarmala.
The green channel berth has a length of 185 metres with a width of 10.45 metres and dredge depth of nine metres and a capacity of 1.66 million tonne a year. The berth meant for movement of petroleum products, iron ore, iron rods, bauxite, fertilizers and liquid raw materials, rice, wheat, sugar and limestone.
VPT Deputy Chairman PL Haranadh was present.
