New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) has initiated various steps to improve ease-of-doing business in its day-to-day affairs.
In this connection, a laboratory for testing edible items will be set up in the port premises itself. A press release by NMPT said here on Friday that importers and exporters of edible goods can get clearance at NMPT itself, rather than have it done in Mysuru.
NMPT will soon open a full-fledged office of the port health officer in its premises, said the statement.
This will help in the embarkation and disembarkation of cruise tourists at New Mangalore Port.
The release further said NMPT has awarded the work of implementing RFID-based gate automation to CMS Computers Ltd. It is expected to be operational by November. This will pave the way for switching over to electronic transactions and ease congestion at the gates, it said.
