Deprecating the dawn-to-dusk bandh in north Bengal districts called by tea unions, the Chief Minister, Ms Mamata Banerjee, today said that her government would look for laws to maintain normal life.

“If necessary we will explore ways or look for laws for maintaining normal life and economy,” the Chief Minister told reporters here without elaboration.

“Some people are indulging in bandhs every day to derive political benefits in North Bengal, which we won’t allow any further,” she said.

Reiterating that the Trinamool Congress would not call bandhs, she said that calling bandhs would not be allowed.

Normal life would be maintained and any move to destroy the State’s economy would be resisted, she said.

Normal life in some of the districts in North Bengal was affected following a dawn-to-dusk bandh called by tea workers unions which had partial impact on tea gardens, official sources said.
