The Delhi High Court on Wednesday declined to direct the CBI to name the Tata Group Chairman, Mr Ratan Tata, the Reliance ADAG Chairman, Mr Anil Ambani, DMK chief Mr M Karunanidhi's wife Ms Dayalu Ammal and corporate lobbyist Ms Niira Radia, as accused in the 2G spectrum case. Terming the petition seeking such a direction as “rubbish”, the court warned the petitioner and Delhi-based journalist, Mr M. Furquan, that if it finds that he has attempted to interfere with the probe in the case, he could land in bigger trouble.
Mr Furquan then withdrew his petition. The court also refused to grant the petitioner the liberty to approach the Supreme Court or any other judicial forum with his appeal seeking direction to the CBI to widen its 2G scam probe. Earlier, the Special Court, hearing the case, had also dismissed Mr Furquan's petition stating that it was not only devoid of any substance but are also contrary to the law and deserve to be dismissed with heavy cost as “applications of this nature are being filed by third parties resulting in loss of precious time of the court”.
