Mr Debashis Chatterjee, head of banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) vertical at Cognizant Technology Solutions, is to quit after serving the US-based software company for 14 years. A spokesperson for Cognizant confirmed his exit.
Mr Jaideep Poondir, Vice-President, BFSI, Cognizant, will replace Mr Chatterjee from April to manage the delivery of the vertical.
Cognizant has a succession planning mechanism and a ‘Two-in-a-Box' structure running across the company with a veteran in the vertical to succeed Mr Chatterjee who is based out of Pune and heading the BFSI vertical for the last seven years, he said.
Mr Chatterjee is the second top person in the last three years to exit Cognizant. In 2008, Mr Ramesh Gudalur, head of BPO at Cognizant, left the company to become the President of Mphasis but rejoined Cognizant as the head of BPO.
For Cognizant, which has large offshore development centres in India, the BFSI vertical contributes nearly 28 per cent of the revenue, which was $4.59 billion in 2010.
