HP is bidding for the ambitious Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems project initiated by the Union Home Ministry.

“Tenders have just come for the project. We are hopeful of winning mandate. We expect an outcome during July-August 2011,” Mr Mohan Krishnan, General Manager (Technology Consulting) of HP Technology Services (APAC), said.

“Cops, wielding hand-held devices, could immediately verify the antecedents of criminals or check back with their peers in other States about information on crimes,” he said.

The network aims at seamless connectivity between 16,000 police stations in the country, allowing them to share information on crimes and criminals in real-time.

The Rs 2,000-crore project envisages setting up servers in all the States and Union Territories to facilitate storage and access of data.

Haryana had already implemented this. Himachal Pradesh would follow, Mr Krishnan told Business Line during an interaction on Friday.
