The Chief Minister, Mr V. S. Achuthanandan, will inaugurate Technopark-Kollam - designed as the first ‘spoke' of the ‘hub' based here – at a function in Kollam on Tuesday.

Technopark-Kollam is being developed over 40 acres of Special Economic Zone space as an IT park of global standards at Kundara on the banks of the scenic Ashtamudi Lake.

GREEN BUILDING

When complete, the facility would have a two million sq ft of built-up space and will provide employment to around 15,000 professionals.

Work on the conceptual design for a modern IT building, measuring half-a-million sq ft of built-up space incorporating the green building concept is already progressing, according to Mr Mervin Alexander, Chief Executive Officer, Technopark.

The IT building has a futuristic design marking a clear distinction from conventional pattern of construction.

This structure is located at the top-most point in the campus from where one can capture an enchanting view of the Ashtamudi Lake with its vast expanse of pristine waters.

Canal access

Technopark-Kollam will also be the first IT park to also have access through a waterway.

The first phase of the building will be operational from August this year.

The remaining land will be allotted to IT companies and infrastructure developers as developed plots according to the master plan.

Work on canal embankment entrusted to the Kerala Inland Navigation Department is also progressing at a fast pace along with other infrastructural development such as water supply and sewage treatment plant.

The Public Works Department has also initiated action to widen and develop the existing road leading to the park from NH 47 at Kottiyam.
