Satyamites' long wait for salary hikes is set to end soon. Mahindra Satyam, which deferred hikes in April, has finally sent letters to employees intimating about the hikes.

All the eligible staff would get the hikes with effect from October 1.

“We have received the letters. We are going to get a decent hike. The hikes are in the range of 12-20 per cent. In some cases, it is still higher too,” a Mahindra Satyam employee told Business Line .

During the analysts' meet, the company promised to increase wages by 12 per cent for offshore staff and 2.5 per cent for onsite. After deciding to delay the hikes, the company had given its staff two options — whether they would prefer lower hikes for nine months or higher increase for six months. They had preferred the latter.

The company, which had put off salary hikes to reduce the expenditure in the first quarter, also deferred giving date of joining to freshers. It had begun to take them in small groups of a few hundreds. It gave offer letters to about 5,000 students in campuses early this year.

However, confusion still remains amongst some freshers as to when they would get a new ‘date of joining'. They continue to make phone calls and send emails to the company, asking that they be informed about the new dates.

Meanwhile, the company's scrip rose by 15 per cent to Rs 75.70 on Monday on the Bombay Stock Exchange. It went up by Rs 10 over the previous close.

Singapore certification

On Monday, the company announced that its Singapore Data Centre has achieved the SS 507:2008 certification (a Singapore standard) for Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Services. This also conforms to the ISO 24762:2008 norms.

“We are the first Indian IT services company in Singapore to achieve this certification,” Mr C.P. Gurnani, Chief Executive Officer of Mahindra Satyam, said here in a statement.
