Nasscom hopes that Mr T.V. Mohandas Pai will continue with his involvement on key IT industry issues, even after his departure from Infosys Technologies.
Mr Pai – who announced his decision to quit the IT bellwether on Friday – is keen on a larger role in public life, particularly in areas such as higher education and policy issues.
“Even if we can get 15-20 per cent of his time, we will be happy. We will certainly leverage his expertise,” the Nasscom President, Mr Som Mittal, said. Mr Mittal said that the Infosys board member and industry veteran had been engaged with Nasscom on a slew of issues pertaining to global trade, policy, taxation and HR.
“I am sure we will continue to leverage his knowledge, now that he will have more time,” Mr Mittal said.
After making public his decision to resign from Infosys, Mr Pai had said, “I hope Som (Som Mittal) will ask me to be associated with the industry. I want to nurture this industry, which has created thousands of jobs. I am also continuing on the board of SEBI.”
