The telecom regulator has asked mobile operators to specify the minimum download speeds for all Internet tariff plans. TRAI also said the users should get this minimum speed not less than 80 per cent of the time. The regulation comes after complaints from mobile users that the Internet speeds being offered by mobile operators were not consistent. The operators are required to print the minimum speed on tariff vouchers. TRAI has not prescribed any benchmark speed for different types of technologies after telecom companies opposed such a move.
