IT services and solutions provider UST Global plans to increase its focus on the Indian market by tapping opportunities in the telecom and healthcare sectors.
“At present, Indian revenues account for only 3-4 per cent of our total revenues. Henceforth, we will tap the market through more offerings and partnerships,'' Mr Alexander Varghese, Country Head – India, UST Global, told Business Line on the sidelines of Nasscom's India Leadership Forum 2011 here.
The Thiruvananthapuram-based privately held firm has 5,000 employees in India out of 8,000 globally.
“We will be increasing the headcount by about 2,600 in next 12 months,” Mr Varghese said.
At present, UST operates four facilities in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Bangalore and Chennai.
“There is also a plan to begin operations in Hyderabad. We are evaluating the feasibility,'' he added. Worldwide, it has offices in California, New York, Austin, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines among others.
NEW MODELS
UST is working on offering new solutions. “We are looking at leveraging cloud-based applications for new models. There is a lot of potential in SME customers in these areas,'' Mr Krishna Prasad, General Manager –India, UST Global, said.
In the US, the company is optimistic about emerging opportunities in the healthcare arena.
“Broadly, our business focus is on healthcare and retail sectors besides manufacturing,” he said.
On the increasing pressures on margins in the industry, he claimed that his company was not affected due to a service-based approach.
