Rajiv Bansal, who will take over as CFO of India’s second largest IT company Infosys in November, has his work cut out.
Bansal was groomed for the post due to his penchant for number crunching and is considered of the brightest employees, according to Infosys CEO S.D. Shibulal.
Former CFO of Infosys T.V. Mohandas Pai told Business Line that Bansal has got the one of the most coveted jobs in corporate India. “It is among the top five coveted jobs in the country. It is going to be challenging for him,” Pai said. Bansal also believes that the new role is something he has always looked forward to.
Smooth transition
Pai said that with the current CFO V Balakrishnan moving to another role, it should be seen as a smooth transition to make way for a youngster. “Everybody needs to have a successor. Bala has performed his role admirably,” he said.
While Bansal is a relatively unknown name in the industry, he has grown up the ladder after he joined the company in October, 1999. Before joining Infosys, the 39-year-old worked as a manager in the finance department of Tata Technologies for nine months. He also worked with Cables & Wireless as an assistant manager for 16 months and as a financial controller for ABB for three years, according to his LinkedIn profile.
His educational credentials include a bachelor in Commerce from St Xavier's College and schooling from Andhra Association School and St Lawrence High School. He also did ICWAI and holds a CA degree.
In the 2012 fiscal, Bansal drew an annual gross salary of Rs 91.34 lakh, according the company’s annual report.
