At an event in Seattle, Washington, Amazon launched a surprise collection of Alexa powered Echo devices, some of which are already available for pre-order in India.

Among the new devices is an all-new Echo Dot, Amazon’s best selling Echo device. This will now come with louder and crisper sound, making it more usable as a standalone device. Users have been able to connect the Dot to other music systems or speakers, but more powerful sound will make it a better buy for those who are on a budget. The new Dot is already available for pre-order for ₹4,499.

With this price point, Amazon is enticing users to add Dots to every room in a house, making Alexa available to all members of the family. Alexa, it will be remembered, can make Echo-to-Echo calls and broadcast messages across devices such as a call for lunch. Echo Dot is to be available in Charcoal, Heather Gray, and Sandstone.

Also maintaining its price of ₹14,999, the Echo Plus, the largest of the Echo speakers, will come with deeper sound and bass as well as a new design. All speakers will come in several colours and new fabrics. “We want you to have access to Alexa everywhere — in your living room, kitchen, bedroom or the office” said Jayshree Gururaj, Director-Amazon Devices. “We are excited today to expand the number of ways customers can use Alexa in their homes to make their lives more convenient — whether it’s asking for the day’s highlights in the morning, listening to music in the evening, or simply saying ‘Alexa, good night,’ to turn the lights off and turn on the AC.”

The Echo Plus contains the smart home hub which enables it to be used with other smart devices such as smart plus, Philips Hue and other lights. These third party devices will be automatically detected and set up. The new Echo Plus has a larger 3” Neodymium woofer and increased back volume so that the bass feels stronger, and the mids and highs are clearer.

For those who want holistic music, the Echo Sub is the first wireless Echo subwoofer. It will pump up the bass with existing or new Echo devices.

All new Echo devices are available for pre-order on Amazon.in starting today. Echo Dot and Echo Plus will start shipping next month. Echo Sub will be available in November this year.

Not yet available for India, the Echo Show was also announced at the Amazon Spheres in Seattle. This is a now a larger screen with an Echo speaker built in.
