​Online marketplace Flipkart is aggressively strengthening its technology team over the last few months. The company has today announced the appointment of two new members to its senior leadership team - Ravi Krishnaswamy as VP of Engineering for Infrastructure and Sharat Singh as VP of Engineering for Content.

Ravi Krishnaswamy comes with an extensive experience of over two decades in designing and developing enterprise ​and ​ cloud scale platforms as well as in leading teams through technical, engineering and management excellence. As VP of Engineering for Infrastructure, he will focus on strengthening operations across IAAS (Infrastructure as a Service) and PAAS (Platform as a Service) and for understanding and address the current challenges pertaining to organization design​ and​ bandwidth​, the company said in a statement.

After completing his post-graduation from University of Illinois, Ravi joined Microsoft and led the Azure team in building Microsoft's next generation of cutting edge cloud OS platform. He moved on to the R&D team where he spearheaded the creation of Microsoft’s hybrid integration vision and strategy, synergizing investments across server, private cloud and public cloud. He is a hardcore technology enthusiast and is also an angel investor and advisor to early age technology startups.

In the newly assumed role as VP of Engineering for Content, Sharat Singh will lead the CMS Engineering team which includes CMS Data Management, Quality, Content Relevance, Development and Creation. He will drive technical strategy for content to transform user experience and shape how customers purchase products on the Flipkart app.

Sharat joins Flipkart from MakeMyTrip where he was the Chief Technology Officer – international & platforms. In this role, he was responsible for developing and executing on global technology strategy and planning ongoing technology innovations for MakeMyTrip. Sharat has 25+ years of experience leading internet and media technology development with strong operational capabilities. Most recently he set up the India Centre of Excellence and led end-to-end product and delivery of engineering systems and automation at Shopzilla Inc as Managing Director-India. He has earlier worked with Nextag, Inc., Microsoft Inc. and co-founded a startup – Ideas.com.

Sharat holds an MBA from The Stern School Of Business, New York University and a B. Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
