Rajan Anandan, Managing Director of Google India, has been given a larger mandate in the Asia Pacific region.

He has been elevated as the new lead for Google in South-East Asia, in addition to the current role of heading the technology major’s India operations.

A Google India spokesperson confirmed the development.

The move comes after the incumbent lead for the South East Asia region, Julian Persaud, moved on to join online lodging venture Airbnb in a regional role.

The 46-year-old Anandan has been with Google India since 2011 when he joined as Vice-President of Sales & Operations. Prior to this, he was Managing Director at Microsoft India. Between May 2006 and June 2008, Anandan served as Country General Manager of Dell India.

In his personal capacity, Anandan has invested in India-focused internet, mobile and software start-ups. As per Crunchbase, he has investments in LetsVenture, Travelkhana, Myshaadi and 14 other start-ups.
