Mumbai-based start-up HandyHome.in, which lets users’ book brand-authorised repairs and other services for electronic appliances, has raised ₹3 crore seed funding from Bessemer Ventures and Kae Capital.

Started by IIT Bombay alumni Akash Goel and Harmin Shah along with 4 others early this year, the firm is trying to revolutionise the way people avail services for electronic appliances by partnering with brands and eliminating the age-old process of calling customer care.

“We realised that after-sales service is a big challenge in India. Customers find it difficult to stay in touch with the brand for any repair work. We are trying to solve this problem of calling the customer care and waiting for ever. Our app is a simple ‘click it to fix it’ concept. We cater to all home and kitchen appliances, whether it is under warranty or out-of-warranty,” said co-Founder Harmin Shah.

The start-up, which has Housing.com’s founder Advitiya Sharma as an official adviser, has already crossed 10,000 downloads so far in just three months and is catering to 100 households everyday. With a team of 35 in less than two months, HandyHome is expected to hire another 70 by the end of next year and expand into cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune in the next three months. At present, it has operations only in Mumbai.

Of late, online startups catering to on-demand home service, which is expected to touch ₹36,000 crore in the next three years, are gaining a lot of investor attention. Recently, another Mumbai-based start-up Zimmber has raised ₹2.5 crore in its first round of funding from InMobi’s core founding team including Naveen Tewari. Similarly, LocalOye also raised ₹30 crore from Tiger Global and Lightspeed Venture Partners, UrbanClap received ₹60 crore from Saif Partners and Accel Partners.
