Hathway Cable and Datacom will now provide Internet speed of 300 Mbps and 2 terabyte of data download in Chennai.
“The offer is for the mass market with a disruptive price of ₹1,250 per month for a 12-month pack,” Rajan Gupta, Managing Director, Hathway, said. In the next couple of months, the company will roll out the combo in other major cities, he told newspersons.
As consumption of content, commerce and communication move into the online space, the need for high speed, reliable and unlimited data downloads has created a demand for wireline fibre broadband on a par with global trends. “Wi-Fi is the oxygen for digital homes and our mesh routers can blanket a home with great coverage. With the demand for 4k over-the-top entertainment, online gaming and Internet of Things applications on the rise, it is necessary for us to provide ultra high speed connectivity to our consumers,” Gupta said.
Wi-Fi mesh technology
The Wi-Fi mesh technology provides coverage over an area of 3,000-4,000 sq ft and can handle heavy traffic for multiple devices without lag , Mehta claimed.
The Indian broadband subscriber base (both wireless and wireline users) has crossed 100 million, he added.
