HTC Global Services, a US-based IT solutions and services company, is planning to double its employee numbers in India to 11,000 in the next three years.

Headquartered in Troy, Michigan, the 25-year-old firm employs over 10,000 people globally, including 5,500 in India. This includes 4,500 employees at its Chennai development centre and 500 in Hyderabad.

“We are planning to double the India numbers as we target to become a $1-billion revenue company by 2020. Though we have not finalised the global numbers yet, doubling the employee strength is what we have in our mind now,” Chary Mudumby, Chief Technology Officer of HTC Global Services, told BusinessLine .

He refused to give the current business run rate. The firm, which gets 80-85 per cent of the revenues from the US market, has increased its focus on the Indian market, targeting banking, retail, healthcare and higher education sectors. “About 20 banks use our solutions. Our services include regulatory compliance to banks, helping them comply with the Reserve Bank of India regulations,” he said.

The $100-billion Indian healthcare sector faced 60 per cent shortage of doctors. Technology could address some of the challenges in the sector.
