Chinese telecom equipment major Huawei that had earlier entered the devices market is now foraying into the notebook (laptop) market too, with the unveiling of MateBook here.

Two-in-one device The latest product which can be used as a tablet too, is equipped with latest processor and operating system and priced between $699 and $1,599 depending on storage and RAM.

While the product will be available in the US and European countries in a couple of months, it will take some time to come to India.

The 12-inch device is backed by latest Intel (sixth generation) Core M7 processor and runs on Windows 10 operating system.

It weighs only 640 gm and is 6.9 mm thin with 4430mAh battery that the company says can run for 10 hours.

The company also said the MateBook has better features, style and stability as compared to its competitors like the Apple iPad Pro, Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and Thinkpad 220.

“This is a new era of mobility and connectivity for business 3.0.

“This is faster and secure which will be commercially available in the next two months (globally),” Richard Yu, Chief Executive Officer -- Consumer Business Unit, Huawei, said here. He said the charger is as small as a smartphone charger (instead of bulky and bigger one ), which can be carried easily.

“And, instead of carrying multi-chargers, only onecan be used for a smartphone as well as the MateBook with USB port,” Yu added.
