Infosys Foundation, philanthropic arm of the country’s second largest IT exporter, today announced a grant of Rs 5 crore to support cancer research through fellowships at the city-based Tata Memorial Centre (TMC).
It signed a pact with TMC to develop a team of “clinician-scientists proficient in translational laboratory research who will be able to bring their cross-disciplinary capabilities to bear on topical questions of cancer research in India,” a statement said.
As per the agreement, Rs 5 crore will be provided towards corpus funding of the fellowship, while Rs 40 lakh will be given for implementation of activities in 2016.
