To attract investments and participation in the Bengaluru Tech Summit, a delegation led by K J George, Karnataka Minister for IT/BT & ST and Large and Medium Scale Industries, has embarked on a five-day tour of three European countries __ Finland, Estonia and France.

The Bengaluru Tech Summit is to be held from November 29 to December 1. The delegation’s main focus in Finland would be biotechnology; block chain and cyber security in Estonia; and the incubation ecosystem in France. The visit is focused on companies that have signed MoUs with the Karnataka government in specific areas of work.

“The purpose of the visit is to sustain relationships that have been built and to capitalise on them, to forge potential partnerships by taking advantage of each other’s ecosystems,” said George.

Speaking from Helsinki, Finland, Gaurav Gupta said, “The trip is mainly to build better partnerships between academia, industry and start-ups of the respective countries so as to build up our ecosystem with innovation, new technology and to identify the right partners for fuelling our growth.”

“A lot of growth in Karnataka start-ups is driven by academic institutions, corporates, venture capital groups, and spirited individuals. What is necessary are global partnerships so that our start-ups get exposed to what is happening in Finland and other countries, and they in turn know of what is happening in Karnataka and India. It will give our start-ups an opportunity to scale up and understand how best to identify obstacles and find solutions. We in the government also need to understand the enabling environment that has been created in these places, so as to replicate the same in Karnataka. Start-ups can, thus, become far more resilient and sustainable,” he added.

While companies from these countries have visited Bengaluru a couple of times over the last one year, this is the first visit by government officials to these countries.
