Lemon Mobiles back with cheaper smartphones, LED TVs

To invest ₹150 crore on new manufacturing unit

Home-grown mobile brand, Lemon Mobiles, which was not in action for sometime, on Wednesday said it will set up a new manufacturing unit for mobile phones and LED televisions in Noida at investment of around ₹150 crore.

The proposed facility will be equipped to produce one-million mobile handsets and 60,000 LED TVs per month.

After the plant comes into operation in 2020, the company aims to hit ₹1,000 crore top line in the next three years. It also plans to set up an R & D and testing lab facility in Shenzhen, China, to design the next-generation mobile handsets, Lemon Electronics , said.

The brand has also recently changed its logo to start its fresh innings with a new identity and investment plans.

Aiming to capture a bigger pie of Indian smartphone market, the brand is planning to launch six-seven new smartphones in the range of ₹4,000-8,000 in the coming months, it said.

“The revamped brand approach is in line with Lemon Mobiles’ next growth strategy in the Indian market. We have planned to come back with robust strategies to fulfil the long-term needs of our consumers,” Kapil Chugh, Chairman and Managing Director, Lemon Electronics, said.

For its proposed R & D and testing centre in China, Lemon Mobiles plans to hire over 100 engineers who will help the brand in driving the innovation targeted for Indian consumers.

As part of its international expansion, the company intends to set up a manufacturing unit in China as well, he added.
