SimpliFITy, a free Smartphone health app, makes fitness possible through simple three to five minute exercises.
Energy Alternatives India (EAI), a research and consulting firm for renewable energy and sustainable industries, which has developed the app, launched it on Tuesday.
Packs availableThe features include guiding users on the health packs, triggers to remind them about exercises on an hourly basis, and analytics for review.
Core activities are three-minute exercise packs – stretching, jogging; five-minute power walks; three-minute breathing exercises.
The app comes with a handbook on healthy food and Yoga. Narasimhan Santhanam, Co-founder, SimpliFITy, said, “Unlike other apps that target those who are already into fitness activities, simpliFITy focuses on those who are not.”
Close to 90 per cent of Indians do not engage in health activities resulting in obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular problems, he said and added that the app was designed by keeping them in mind.
The app was developed after studying Indian health habits over eight months, interacting with over 100 end users and reviewing existing health apps.
Research studies and inferences on health activities and behaviour change were also taken into consideration, Santhanam said.
Santhanam said 30-40 per cent of the 1,000 who used the test version started doing at least few of the exercises. The app can be downloaded from the Play Store.
