Baba Ramdev-led Patanjali is now set to formally launch its messaging app Kimbho later this month. The messaging app was made available for download on a trial basis on Google Playstore on Wednesday.

In a tweet, Acharya Balkrishna, MD, Patanjali Ayurved, said the Kimbho app has now got new and advanced features and that it is available for download on a trial basis.

He added, “ Kimbho app may have some minor shortcomings. After making improvements and changes, it will be formally launched on August 27. We look forward to your reviews and suggestions."

Patanjali spokesperson S K Tijarawala also tweeted that the Swadeshi messaging app will be launched by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on August 27.

In line with its strategy to leverage on its Swadeshi antecedents for all its products, Patanjali said the Kimbho app will bring “digital freedom” to Indian consumers.

The much-talked-about app, which is being positioned as the desi answer to WhatsApp, was earlier launched on a trial basis in late May. However, within a day of its trial launch , it was pulled down from Google Playstore after it got embroiled in controversies and faced security and privacy concerns. Several duplicate apps had also cropped up.

The company seems to have distanced itself from the original team of developers, involved in the previous trial launch of the app.
