PTC, Product Development Company, has acquired 4CS Solutions, a NRI promoted developer of warranty management and service lifecycle management software.

In an announcement to the Nasdaq, the $1,010 million, Massachusetts headquartered, PTC said the acquisition broadens its portfolio of solutions for product support and service organisations. 4CS is privately-held and terms of the deal were not disclosed.

4CS, headquartered in Illinois and having its India operations in Hyderabad, was founded by Mr Ashok Kartham from Andhra Pradesh in 1996. It has over 100 employees in its centre, which has expertise in engineering services and life cycle management, Its clientele include M&M, John Deere, Caterpillar, etc. The company is also present in the UK and Canada.

4CS has developed an approach to warranty and service lifecycle management, through its iWarranty, that facilitates capture of service history and product updates. This important data is brought back into enterprises, which can then provide efficient product and service improvements.

Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) often lose valuable insight into product performance and service effectiveness once their products have been sold. As a result, they fail to capture value throughout the entire service lifecycle where a majority of product-related profits can be realized.

4CS's technology complements PTC's existing service information solutions which empower an OEM's product-support ecosystem with intuitive, configuration-specific service procedures, 3D parts lists, and interactive training materials, a release from PTC said.

PTC already has significant presence in India with five offices, three in Pune and one each in Bangalore and Gurgaon. Hyderabad will now be added to its geographical spread and expansion in the country.
