Upping the ante in the telecom space, Reliance Jio Infocomm (RJio) has extended its Prime Membership scheme, the country's largest loyalty programme, at no additional cost to March 2019. The scheme was to end on Saturday.

"All Jio prime members who have subscribed to the exclusive membership benefits till March 31, 2018, will get another year of complimentary prime benefits at no additional fee (limited period offer). Jio deeply values its loyal prime members and will continue to deliver additional benefits and superior value to these founding members," RJio said in a statement.

Membership fee

Existing prime members will have to express their interest for the complimentary membership by logging on to MyJio app. For new Jio users, Jio Prime Membership will be available at an annual membership fees of Rs 99, it said.

RJio, a wholly-owned subsidiary of India's largest private sector company Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), had started its annual subscription service on April 1, 2017. Recently, prime users were given additional data 10 GB data at same price, compared with non-prime members.

The company, controlled by billionaire Mukesh Ambani, now has a total of 175 million users across the country, an increase from 168 million recorded as January 2018. RJio also said it will continue to provide "20-50 per cent more value to Jio Prime users".

Jio also promised "substantially better benefits" to its members, compared with other operators in the country.

According to an internal study by RJio, Prime Membership is the largest loyalty programme in the country.
