Saama Technologies Inc plans to create the largest pure play data science and analytics hub in India on the back of a recent $35-million series-A funding.

The Big Data analytics solutions and services company, headquartered in the Silicon Valley, said it will invest $ 2 million in its India operations this year.

Plans include an added 45,000 sq. ft. office space in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Pune, creation of hundreds of new jobs across data science profession over the next six months and expansion of the company’s industry leading data science training programme.

The company will also expand its four-month-long post graduate training programme under which American and Indian graduates complete a data science immersion training together at the same facility in Pune.

This will be fundamental to our accelerated growth across India and globally as we satisfy market demand from Fortune 2000 companies for rapidly deployed, industry-specific analytic solutions that deliver material business outcomes.”

Saama is planning to invest $2 million this year to expand its India operations. This primarily includes talent acquisition and creating new infrastructure for capacity expansion, he added.
