Samsung Electronics, which has over 40 per cent market share in the Indian tablet market, announced the launch of two mid-segment Galaxy tablets – Galaxy Tab A and Galaxy Tab E.

Targeted at the fast growing mid-segment tablet market, the tablets are priced at ₹20,500 and ₹16,900 respectively and support voice calls.

“The market size for tablets in India in the January-March quarter was 150,000 units per month, of which we have over 40 per cent market share. While the tablet category is on a growth path, the mid-segment tablet market in the price bracket of ₹10,000 to ₹20,000 is growing even more significantly. To grow this category further, and in keeping with consumer demand, we have launched the two new Galaxy Tabs, carrying forward our legacy of introducing smart media devices,” said Asim Warsi, Vice-President (Marketing, IT & Mobile), Samsung India. Galaxy Tab A is an 8-inch screen, 320gm tablet that is 4G-LTE enabled and supports multiple frequency bands for both FDD and TDD modes, ensuring faster video streaming and webpage loading. Designed for reading and web consumption, it will be available for sale across the country from Saturday.

Galaxy Tab E is a 9.6-inch screen, 495 gm tablet, has a split view, multi-window capability, supports kids’ mode and will be available for sale on Flipkart initially and hit stores by the end of the month.

Galaxy Tab A will be available in smoky titanium and white colours and Galaxy Tab E will be available in metallic black and pearl white colours.
