Sophos, provider of network and endpoint security solutions, has introduced Sophos Email Advanced solution to protect emails from sophisticated attacks using deep learning tools.

With Ransomware-As-A-Service (RaaS) making it easier for hackers to tailor-made and launch more complex, targeted attacks through emails, the inboxes could be vulnerable for breachers.

The firm says email continues to be a primary attack vector for cybercriminals to initiate a spear phishing, localised or ‘spray and pray’ attacks. (While spear phishing attacks are aimed at specific individuals or organisations, spray-and-pray campaigns are randomised attacks targeting all.)

Sophos, which processes data from more than one crore inboxes every day to prevent attacks, has found that about 80 per cent of the emails marked as spam are found to have a malicious payload.

“We need smarter, predictive security to detect and stop advanced threats. Managed through our cloud-based management tool Sophos Central, the new solution can deliver high levels of protection to secure any email platform,” Sunil Sharma, Managing Director Sales at Sophos India and SAARC, has said.

The new solution from Sophos comes with CryptoGuard technology that can stop ransomware before it makes it to one’s inboxes. The Time-of-Click feature scans the URL at the time of click, keeping tabs on stealthy and delayed attacks, he said.

The solution offers predictive security with active threat protection (ATP), anti-phishing email authentication, and outbound scanning.

“Outbound scanning can prevent a compromised organisation from unintentionally forwarding malware or sending spam out to customers or partners,” he said.
