Bangalore-based telcom software provider Subex Ltd has bagged a five year deal from MTN Group to deploy its fraud management and revenue assurance solutions.

MTN is the largest operator in Africa and the Middle East, with over 170 million subscribers, Subex will be installing its software across 14 networks. Faced with increasing revenue protection requirements for

its telecom services in the Africa and Middle East region, MTN and other telecom providers are under increasing pressure to reduce billing frauds in a fast growing region.

As part of this model, along with hardware suppliers, Subex will provide ROC Fraud Management and Revenue Assurance solutions to support MTN’s networks. ROC Revenue Assurance from Subex provides

monitoring and revenue protection and is designed to detect potential revenue loss, assist operators with the investigation, diagnosis, and recovery of these revenues and with their on-going protection. It is

effective in both the traditional circuit-switched and next-generation, packet-switched service environments and is scalable as telcos look to expand and mature.

The solutions will be deployed individually in each of the operating countries, with a central program office from Subex, which will work with the MTN Group and the individual countries to roll out the systems in phases across the 14 networks.

Nazir Patel, Group CFO, MTN Group said: “We were looking for a partner to collaborate with us long term, to address our revenue fortification requirements.”

Subex has won two multi year deals for revenue assurance solutions in the Africa and Middle East market this year.
