Tata Consultancy Services today announced the launch of iON – a fully integrated IT solution for the SMBs in Coimbatore.

The company has already rolled out the product in the metros and is now looking to introduce it in tier II cities

Unveiling the product, the Global Head of iON, Mr V. Ramaswamy, said ‘iON can make a huge difference to the educational institutions and other industries in this region; it would address the entire spectrum of an SMB's technology needs which range from business solutions such as HR, finance, inventory, sophisticated domain-based ERP solution as well as basic application such as e-mail, document management and Web site services. iON is pre-configured with hardware, network and software and backed by business, technical and consulting services, he added

The company saw huge opportunity in the SMB space and the product itself. “SMBs are found to be spending more on technology than bigger corporates and this market is untapped. More than 65 per cent of the SMBs are not covered by any technology solutions,” Mr Ramaswamy said.

iON has garnered over 235 SMB customers, he said and recalled the time (about a year) it took to acquire the first 100 before covering the next 100 in just over two months.

Technology adoption levels were high in South compared with the northern part of the country, he said.

The company has tied-up with 100-plus cloud service partners.

The company plans to ramp up the service to 1,000 plus customers this year and is targeting to reach $ 1 billion in five years. “It is a cloud-based service and the pay-as-you-use business model is uniquely suited to SMBs,” he said, adding “there was no capex involved in availing this service. It provides ‘on-demand' business capability.”
