TCS is evaluating a plan to introduce iON, the integrated IT solution for small and medium business (SMB), outside India.
“We are discussing a plan to launch the partner-linked complete IT-as-a-service offering to SMBs in developing countries,” said Mr Venguswamy Ramaswamy, Global Head (SMB), said.
Mr Ramaswamy, who was here on Tuesday to announce iON in Andhra Pradesh, said the company would consolidate the programme in India.
“We hope to have about 2,000 customers by 2012. Perhaps, we then can replicate the model elsewhere,” he said.
The company has tied up with over 90 vendors to offer IT-as-a-service. In the first year, it targeted to enlist 1,000 customers. At present, it has 150 SMB customers.
iON's industry solutions cover manufacturing, textiles education, retail, quick service restaurants, wellness and professional services.
Besides the convenience part, companies could save 35-40 per cent of expenditure they incurred on IT hardware, software and service.
“In Andhra Pradesh, there are more than 23 lakh SMBs, employing close to 22 lakh people in Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Warangal, Karimnagar and Guntur. We have already enlisted clients such as Anoos Electrolysis & Obesity, Pinks 'n' Bloos, Synthokem Labs and Chaitanya Education Society,” he said.
On integrity and credibility of the partners who worked in the value chain, he said the partners had to pass through a rigorous certification process.
