TRAI has extended the time limit for submission of comments on its consultation paper on regulatory framework changes for the use of USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) for mobile financial services.
Comments can now be submitted up to September 14 as against the August 31 deadline proposed earlier, an official release said. Also, counter comments could be provided by September 28 as against September 14, it added.
USSD is one of the communication modes that could be used for delivery of mobile financial services.
The Department of Financial Services in the Finance Ministry had in June 2012 written to TRAI stating that USSD was the most convenient means of communication for everyone and requested the telecom regulator to prescribe tariffs.
