Wassup, an on-demand convenience brand, today said retail veteran and TRRAIN founder B S Nagesh has invested an undisclosed sum in pre-series A round in the company.

Nagesh will come on board as an advisor and mentor to the founders of Wassup, the company said in a statement.

The brand vision is to be in 100 cities in the next three years, and is planning to offer home, pet, car and personal care services in the next 12 months, it added.

Wassup has been seed funded by Das Star Ventures.

Nagesh is a founder of a public charitable trust TRRAIN (Trust for Retailers and Retail Associates of India) and is also currently vice chairman and non-executive director at Shoppers Stop.

“I am happy to be associated with Wassup as the impact it can have on the people at the bottom of the pyramid in the laundry business can be immense and is aligned to what we are trying to do in TRRAIN,” Nagesh said in a statement.

According to industry estimates, the laundry market in India is estimated to be valued at Rs 200,000 crore annually, of which 95 per cent is in unorganised segment.

Nagesh is also on the board of Marico Limited, Kaya Limited and Entertainment Network (India) Ltd.
