Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (WIN), a business division of Wipro Enterprises Ltd, has entered into an agreement to acquire the industrial automation business of Bengaluru-based Incite CAM Centre for about Rs 20 crore.
This is the first acquisition for WIN Automation, a newly-created business division of Wipro Enterprises, billionaire Azim Premji’s privately-held business.
The acquisition will help WIN Automation expand its presence in the welding automation segment, the company said in a statement. Singhi Advisors was the advisor to Incite CAM Centre.
WIN Automation has previously signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mitsubishi Electric India to be its e-Factory alliance partner. It has also signed a pact with the US-based Rockwell Automation to tap the emerging industrial automation market.
This acquisition will enable WIN Automation get access to two manufacturing units of Incite CAM, which specialises in manufacturing customised Robotic Welding Lines for automotive assemblies of four-wheelers, the two-wheeler industry, the transformer manufacturing industry and aerospace, among others.
The Indian industrial automation market for manufacturing is pegged at nearly $2 billion. Of this, the opportunity for third-party system integrators such as Wipro and others is worth nearly $400 million.
WIN was demerged from parent Wipro Ltd, the listed information technology (IT) outsourcing arm in 2013, and along with Wipro’s consumer care business is clubbed under Wipro Enterprises.
