In his maiden budget, the FM has sought to address some of the challenges and bottlenecks in the marketing of agricultural produce. While he has announced measures on the inputs side with irrigation and fertilisers, seed development and biotechnology, he has also recognised the need for a smoother post-harvest and marketing channel for the farmers.
The vision of a national market, thrust on scientific warehousing infrastructure, modernising market yards – everything clearly shows the commitment of the government. Efforts to remove inefficiencies and anomalies in the underlying physical market is a big positive for the futures market.
