Spot chana fell as demand remained sluggish at the higher price. Chana (kanta) was quoted Rs 25-50 down at Rs 3,100-3,125 a quintal in the spot market on Wednesday, while chana (desi) ruled at Rs 3,050-3,075.

Monsoon rain in parts of the State for the past few days and a decline in festival demand as traders have already completed purchases for the Ganesh Chaturthi festival also kept chana bearish.

Dollar chana or chickpea ruled firm at Rs 8,000-8,400 a quintal on weak arrivals, with merely 500-600 bags being offloaded in local mandis. Demand in the domestic market continues to rise while it has declined in the export market.

Slack demand dragged down masoor that quoted at Rs 2,825-2,850 a quintal in the spot market, while masoor (medium) ruled at Rs 2,500. Masoor dal, however, ruled firm, with masoor dal (bold) ruling at Rs 3,475-3,500, masoor dal (medium) at Rs 3,375-3,400 and masoor dal (average) at Rs 3,300-3,325 a quintal.

Tur dal gained marginally on rising demand. Though tur (marka) remained stable at Rs 5,850-5,900, tur dal (bold) gained marginally at Rs 5,150-5,200 and tur dal (sawa no.) at Rs 4,150-4,200 a quintal.
