For the first time after several years, copra prices touched ₹13,300 a quintal at Erode markets. “A record price was seen on Wednesday. Copra was sold at ₹12,700-13,300 a quintal. Such increase is due to the very poor stock with the farmers and others,” said RM Palanisamy, a trader. Correspondingly, coconut oil prices too gained. It was sold at ₹2,400-2,500 for a 15-kg loose pack in the beginning of the month and it is now selling at ₹2,600-2,700.
