Activity at Vashi Agriculture Produce Markets Committee (APMC) including the sugar market remained close for the second consecutive day on Wednesday as protest continued against Agriculture Produce Marketing Development and Regulation Act Ordinance.
Mathadis across the State joined the strike leaving all loading-unloading activities at a standstill. Though State government on Tuesday evening clarified that it will sort out the matter soon, traders’ want clarity on the role of commission agents at APMC. Vashi based traders said there were no new arrivals or local despatches. Market observed total shut down. Meanwhile, sugar prices at upper–mill level remained steady.
