Silver prices edged higher by 0.6 per cent to Rs 44,380 per kg at the futures trade today after speculators enlarged their positions largely driven by a firm trend overseas.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in July was up by Rs 266 or 0.6 per cent to Rs 44,380 per kg in business turnover of 96 lots.
Similarly, the white metal for delivery in September traded higher by Rs 267 or 0.59 per cent to Rs 45,163 per kg in 238 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in silver prices at the futures trade to a firm trend in precious metals overseas.
Meanwhile, the white metal traded 0.43 per cent higher at $20.96 an ounce in New York yesterday.
