The rising trend seen in January in the earnings at Coonoor Tea Trade Association (CTTA) auctions continued in February.
The average price at CTTA auctions rose to ₹99.63 a kg from ₹91.57 in the first two months of 2018.
The volume too increased to 9.50 mkg from 7.78 mkg.
With more tea being sold at higher price, the overall earnings increased to ₹94.64 crore from ₹71.24 crore. This increase of ₹ 23.40 crore marked a gain of 32.85 per cent.
In all, eight auctions had been conducted till February when the earnings posted an increase of 32.85 per cent over January-February 2018, reveals an analysis of the Market Reports.
