The prices of teas sold in the various auction centres in the country declined by 10.79 per cent in first quarter (Q1) of current calendar over the same period of 2019.
According to the latest data available with the Tea Board, prices in the Indian auctions dropped to ₹110.01 a kg from ₹123.31 during January-March 2019.
This fall of ₹13.30 a kg marked a decline of 10.79 per cent in the pre-lockdown period. In the North, till March, the average price in the auctions was ₹114.19 a kg against ₹127.99 during January-March 2019. In the South, prices dropped significantly at the auctions to ₹94.30 a kg from ₹111.22.
