Silver traded up Rs 269 at Rs 41,156 per kg at the futures trade today as participants indulged in enlarging positions amid a firm trend in precious metals overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March was up by Rs 269 or 0.66 per cent at Rs 41,156 per kg in a business turnover of 351 lots.
Likewise, the white metal for delivery in far-month May gained Rs 248 or 0.6 per cent to Rs 41,731 per kg in 1 lot.
Analysts said widening of positions by speculators in step with a firm trend in global markets influenced silver prices at the futures trade.
Meanwhile, silver was up 0.12 per cent at $16.82 an ounce in Singapore today.
