Asian stocks were trading firm on Monday after the US payrolls data issued last week showed the economic recovery in the world's biggest economy was picking up momentum.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell 72.83 points or 0.74 per cent to 9,786.37. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 214.08 points or 0.92 per cent to 23,373.22. Singapore’s Straits Times climbed 41.39 points or 1.34 per cent to 3,140.91. South Korea’s Kospi was up 1.87 points or 0.09 per cent at 2,149.32.
Australia’s S&P/Asx 200 was up 16.6 points or 0.35 per cent at 4,759.60. China’s Shanghai Composite was up 7.51 points or 0.26 per cent at 2,871.40. Taiwan’s Taiex jumped 59.68 points or 0.66 per cent to 9,036.91.
